Cowardly clergy

Updated: Oct 27, 2023

This is about my country!

This is another truth that has been hidden from the public.

God issued the separation of church and state doctrine. It means that the state will not control religion and religion will not control the state. However the religious values of the people controlling the state were always meant to be a factor in governing. The founders knew this and were not afraid to build their nation’s government on this and other Biblical values. Why are we afraid to live our lives in an America that has its foundation in Christianity? Are we afraid of living by Christian principles? Our culture seems to have abandoned civility so one can surmise the answer is Yes.

There are many times in the Bible when priests confronted civil leaders on issues of how they were governing and civic leaders reached out to religious leaders for counsel. Here are just a few:

When religious leaders confronted civic leaders

  • 1 Kings 18:18, 21:1-24 (eminent domain and religious persecution)

  • 2 Kings 20:12-19; Isaiah 39:1-8 (national security failures, national treasury issues)

  • 2 Chronicles 19:1-2, 20:35-37 (foreign relations blunders, bad foreign alliances)

  • Matthew 14:1-4, Mark 6:17-18 (divorce, marriage practices)

  • Daniel 4:1-27, 5:17-28 (pride and arrogance, moral debauchery)

  • 2 Chronicles 26:16-21 (improper expansion of government powers)

When civic leaders reached out to religious leaders:

  • 2 Kings 6 (counsel on military intelligence and military policy)

  • Ezra 9:1-3, 10:2-12 (marriage issues)

  • Acts 27:9-44 (Paul provides advice on natural calamities and other disasters)

  • Jeremiah 21:1-10 (military guidance)

  • Isaiah 37 (national security and foreign policy)

Given the above, why have modern clergy caved to the state? Are the clergy afraid? There would not be a United States of America had it not been for the teachings and courage of the clergy from the 1680s through to the founding of this great nation. Are today’s clergy afraid to get involved? This Constitution coach is not afraid.

“...if there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it.” Charles Finney, 19th century evangelist (3rd great awakening)

“Now, more than ever before, the people are responsible for the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless and corrupt it is because the people tolerate ignorance recklessness and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave and pure it is because the people DEMAND these qualities to represent them in the national legislature.

If the next centennial does not find us a great nation...it will be because those who represent the enterprise, the culture and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.” - President (and Pastor) James Garfield, 1876

A recent Pew research study shows that 63% of the US population self-identify as Christians in 2021, down from 75% a decade earlier. Daily prayer is down, church attendance is down and the importance of religion in people’s lives is down.

Squishy! That’s what most pastors have been trained to be and it’s killing our Christian nation and Christianity in general, which has been the goal for the last few generations certainly.

For most of my life I didn’t take a stand and didn’t offend anyone and no one disliked me nor did they really like me. I was Mr. Irrelevant. I wasn’t really liked until I took a stand FOR something. Sure, I’m also hated by a few for my stance on the Constitution, religion, American history and education but I’m not Mr. Irrelevant any longer. I tell you this because there are many of the clergy who are thus afraid to offend anyone. Don’t worry, the same can be said of a lot of politicians, in fact, about a lot of people in general. I also know that I will likely draw some ire from people for this but I don’t answer to man for my beliefs and behavior, I answer to God.

Revelation 21:8 says bad things about the cowardly. There is also the parable about the talents. And a few times where the Bible says Do Not Fear.
